INSTRUCTION FOR CHANGING GAS SPRING

To change the gas spring on the Dropout Spice Rack/Storage System first fully open the unit and fully install the threaded thumb screw (tethered to back of unit) into the upper guide bar hole to lock the rack open. Remove all of the trays and/or rack accessories.

Next the top Door Mount Screw on the back side and the Adjuster Insert must be removed (leave the other three Door Mount Screws in place). Now remove the four Nyloc Nuts from the front side of the rack with a 3/8” socket and remove the rack with the door attached from the Moving Plate.

Using the 3/16” Hex Driver (attached to back of unit) attached to a power screwdriver or ratchet rotate Adjuster Screw clockwise until Adjuster Carriage is fully forward.

CAUTION: EVEN IN A WEAKEND STATE THE GAS SPRING IN UNDER HIGH PRESSURE AND THE LIFT PLATE IS NOW IN MAXIMUM LIFT CONFIGURATION.

While holding the Fixed Plate down with a firm and secure grip remove the Thumb Screw and slowly let the Moving Plate rise to the up position.

Now you must be holding onto the Moving Plate while removing the Gas Spring. While giving a slight upward push to the Moving Plate insert a small flat blade screw driver under the metal clip on the lower Gas Spring socket head. By lifting the metal clip the head will release from the Ball Stud.

With the lower socket of the Gas Spring detached slowly lower the moving plate and then remove the upper end of the Gas Spring from the Ball Stud on the Adjuster Carriage.
